Club History

The Pointer Club of Scotland was established in 1979 by a group of Pointer enthusiasts, resident in Scotland. The first Open Show was held the following year and in 1982 the KC granted Championship Show status to the Club. The Club organises an Open Show in March of each year at Coulter in South Lanarkshire and its Championship Show in October at Barony College near Dumfries.

The Club held its first Summer Field Trials on Grouse for Pointers and Setters in 1980 at the Marquis of Linlithgow’s Leadhills Estate, initially with a Novice Stake then with the addition of an Open Stake two years later. The Scottish field trial clubs then established a Spring Field Trials circuit on Grouse in the far north of Scotland and the Pointer Club of Scotland continues to run Spring and Summer trials annually in the Highlands. The Spring trial is held at Farr Estate and the Summer trial is at Cawdor Estate.

Additionally the club has organised various seminars, Field Trial demonstration days and Judges Education Seminars

Covid Statement

Due to the continuing relaxation of the Covid 19 restrictions in Scotland and in considering advice from The Kennel Club, DEFRA and the Scottish Government, the Pointer Club of Scotland intend to organise and run shows and trials that are compliant with the regulations that are in place and after carrying out appropriate Covid-19 risk assessments.

Specific Covid Compliance requirements will be included on the schedules for each event and entrants should note that when signing the Declaration at the foot of the entry form, they are agreeing to abide by the Covid measures that are in place for that event. The measures may vary due to the specific nature of the venue or trial ground  and  may be altered if the Covid situation should change in the run up to the event.

For those exhibitors and competitors travelling from outwith Scotland to participate in our events we would ask that you check for further information on Scottish Government guidance on current protection levels by visiting  https://www.gov.scot  You may also find it useful to visit the KC website www.thekennelclub.org.uk and read the KC advice on the resumption of licensed events.
